Richard Charles Williams, age 67, of Oskaloosa, Iowa and formerly of Eddyville, passed away Monday, December 24, 2018 at the Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. Visitation for Richard will begin at 1:00 P.M., on Friday, December 28, 2018 at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel of Eddyville. Richard’s family will be present at the chapel from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Friday evening. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the Eddyville United Methodist Church in Eddyville. Burial will follow services at Pleasant Corners Cemetery of rural Eddyville. Richard was born at home in rural Monroe County, Iowa, near Eddyville, to Lester Charles and Alice D. (Hazlett) Williams. Richard grew up in Monroe County and attended Eddyville School. Richard was the plant operator at the Rock Quarry in Harvey, Iowa and he enjoyed fishing and camping. Richard was a lifelong race fan and a motorcycle enthusiast. As a younger man he drag- raced at Eddyville and he enjoyed Figure 8 Racing, Demolition Derbies, and street racing. Richard is survived by three daughters, Brandy (Leonidas)Williams~Hermandez, Bobbi Rupe, and Carrie (Brad) Edgington all of Ottumwa; eleven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and six step great grandchildren. Richard is also survived by one sister Rita Parker of Bussey; and one brother David Williams of Kansas. Richard is preceded in death by his loving wife Sandy; his parents Lester and Alice Williams; and three brothers Raymond, Dean, and Ralph Williams; and one sister Alice Roberts. A memorial has been established to Richard’s family. The Eddyville Funeral Chapel is assisting Richard’s family with services.
