Obituary for Jack Morgan

Jack Lee Morgan, age 81, of Oskaloosa, Iowa and formerly of Eddyville & Bridgeport, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at the Mahaska Health Partnership Hospital in Oskaloosa. A visitation, with Jack’s family present, will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel. The inurnment will be held at a later date at the St. Mary Cemetery in Eddyville, Iowa. Jack Lee Morgan was born on March 9, 1936 in Bridgeport, IA to John Lee and Marian (Klinkhamer) Morgan. Jack’s early education started in a one-room country school house in Bridgeport, Iowa. He attended and graduated Eddyville High School, class of 1954. In September of 1956 Jack and Shirley Ann Chapman were united in marriage. They later divorced. On August 16, 1972 Jack and Sheryl Kay Baker were married. They shared over 42 years of marriage together before Sheryl’s passing in February of 2015. Jack was a truck driver for most of his life. He drove for Dad’s Root Beer, John Morrell’s, Oskaloosa Oil, Bloom Builders, Foodliner, Ruan in Des Moines, and Wal-Mart. Jack also owned and operated the Welcome Inn, Lunch Box, and Sheryl K’s Ice Cream Shop. The last 12 years Jack drove for 10 -15 Transit. Jack enjoyed sprint car racing, gambling, sweets and Diet Pepsi. He was a devoted Knoxville Race Fan as well. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be missed. Jack is survived by his children, Bryon (Christina) Morgan of Lacona, Cheryl (Gene) Spencer of Oskaloosa, Matt Morgan of Harvey and Allison Sarver of Oskaloosa; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; brother, Dennis (Linda) Morgan of Ottumwa; and sister, Janis (Pat) O’Lear of Eddyville. Jack is preceded in death by his wife, Sheryl Kay (Baker) Morgan; daughter, Diana “Dee Dee” Genskow, his parents, John and Marian (Klinkhamer) Morgan; and brothers, Richard Roberts, Bill Roberts, Danny Roberts and Tom Morgan; and sisters, Mary Jeanette Darland and Carol Grandia.
