Obituary for Robert Scott

Robert Harry Scott, age 91, of Knoxville formerly of Eddyville, Iowa, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2018, at his residence, in Knoxville, Iowa. A funeral visitation will be held from 3:30 P.M. until 5:30 P.M., Wednesday, February 28, 2018, at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel. Robert’s family will be greeting friends during this time.Robert Harry Scott was born on April 26, 1926, the son of Harry H. and Lydia Mae (Kussart) Scott. He graduated from Eddyville High School in the Class of 1945. After high school Robert went to work at John Deere where he worked for 38.5 years before retiring in 1983. Robert began running a candy and gum ball route for three years after his retirement. On September 14, 1945, Robert married Wyota Swim. To this union four children were born; Linda, Dennis, Rodney, and Lori. Robert and Wyota raised their family in Eddyville. Robert enjoyed being active within his community. He served 8 years on the Eddyville City Council and was a sewer instigator of the town’s sewer system. He was an active member of the Eddyville Christian Church where he served as a Deacon for over 20 years. He also coached little league for 8 years and was a Mason for over 56 years, on the degree team out of Davenport Scottish Right for 18 years, and was a Worthy Patron for Eastern Star 27 times.Robert is survived by his four children, Linda Rouze (Gene) of Eddyville, Dennis Scott (Carla) of Eddyville, Rodney Scott (Theresa) of Florida, and Lori Anderson (Mark) of Knoxville; one sister, Pauline Wilcox; nine grandchildren; 20 great Grandchildren; and 8 great great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, two sisters and one brother. Memorial contributions may be made to The Knoxville Fire and Rescue in Knoxville, Iowa.
