Obituary for Rollin Mart

Rollin Mart age 87, of rural Eddyville, Iowa passed away Wednesday morning, November 01, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M., Sunday, November 05, 2017, at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel. Rollin’s family will be present Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, November 06, 2017 at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel. Burial will immediately follow the service at Coal Creek Cemetery in rural Eddyville. Rollin was born on January 15, 1930 at the family farm in rural Monroe County, Iowa. He was a twin son of Arthur Ferold and Edith Frances (Plough) Mart. Rollin was raised in the country and attended Forest Hill Country School before moving to Streator, Illinois at age 16 and begun working for Streator Brickyard operating a dozer and dragline digging clay. He resided in Illinois for 30 years and then returned to Eddyville in 1976 to farm. Rollin also worked for 29 years at the Oskaloosa Sale Barn. On May 24, 1959 Rollin and Geraldine Chadd were united in marriage and were blessed with one child Samantha. They shared 29 years of marriage before her passing on January 28, 1988. In 1994, Rollin was united in marriage to Irene Steel. They shared 5 years of marriage before her passing in 1994. In 2011, Rollin was united in marriage to Vina Corrine Johnston Lewman. She survives him. Rollin liked to stay busy and spending time at the casino. He loved his grandchildren and playing cards with his brother and his neighbors. As a child he had a love for hunting. He started with squirrel hunting and later also deer hunted for many years. He shared the love for the outdoors and hunting with his grandchildren. Rollin is survived by his loving wife, Vina Lewman-Mart of rural Eddyville; one daughter, Samantha Osterloh and husband Brian of LaMarque, TX; ten grandchildren, Kaitlin Beals, Kasey Beals, Angel Neumann, Michael McBride Jr., Melissa McBride, Christopher McBride, Meagon Glos, Bobby Glos, Travis Simpson, and Kristin Kool; and several great grandchildren. Rollin is also survived by four sisters, Betty Fosenburg of Albia, Bonnie Waits of Knoxville, Joyce Moses of Oskaloosa, and June Spencer of Oskaloosa; and one brother, Roscoe Mart of rural Eddyville. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Edith (Plough) Mart; two wives, Geraldine Chadd and Irene Steele; two daughters, Sandy McBride and Pam Glos; one sister, Alice Mart; and one brother, Thayne Mart. Memorial contributions may be made to Rollin’s family for a memorial that will be determined on a later date.
