Obituary for Roy McKim

Roy Dean McKim, age 64, of rural Oskaloosa, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday morning, June 30, 2015, at the Pella Regional Health Center of Pella, Iowa. Visitation for Roy will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M., on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel. Roy’s family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday evening. Funeral services for Roy will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, July 3, 2015 also at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel of Eddyville. Burial will follow services at Highland Cemetery of Eddyville. Roy was born on September 14, 1950 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He was the son of Robert and Wilma McKim. Roy was raised outside of Oskaloosa and he graduated from Oskaloosa High School, Class of 1968. After high school Roy worked locally before starting with Pella Corp in 1971. Roy worked with Pella Corp for 44 years and in 2014 he received a 38 year perfect attendance award. On April 24, 1971, in Eddyville, Iowa, Roy and Deborah Lee Crosson were united in marriage. They shared 44 years of marriage together and were blessed with three children: Cory, Brent, and Joel. Roy enjoyed working on vehicles and he owned and operated McKim Repair for many years. He loved his family and spending time with them. He especially enjoyed his grandson, Aiden. Roy is survived by his wife, Deborah McKim of rural Oskaloosa; his children, Cory McKim and Susana McIntosh of Honolulu, HI, Brent McKim and Abby Yarber of Austin, Tx, and Joel McKim and wife Alicia of Marion, IA; and one grandson, Aiden McKim. Roy is also survived by his two brothers, Ronald (Lydia) McKim, Robert (Joyce) McKim; three sisters, Patricia Cashatt, Mary (Dave) Hayes, Jayne (John) Centeno; two brother-in-laws, Rick Crosson, Craig (Wanda) Crosson; three sister-in-laws, Diane (Rick) DeZwarte, Denise (Tony) Fenton, and Christi (Jr) Wade; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Wilma McKim. A memorial has been established in Roy’s name to the American Cancer Society, towards pancreatic cancer research.
