Jones, 90, of Oskaloosa and formerly of Eddyville, Iowa, passed away August 3, 2015 at Crystal Heights Care Center of Oskaloosa. Opal was born February 13, 1925 in Guernsey, Iowa to Alvin A. and Edna Alvina (Lane) Johnston. On June 30, 1940 Opal and Lloyd Jones were united in marriage in Missouri. Opal and Lloyd were blessed with over 50 years of marriage. Lloyd passed away in 1991. Opal was a housewife and a homemaker all her life. She is survived by her two sisters, Darlene Miller of Sierra Vista, AZ and Vina Lewman Mart of rural Eddyville; and many nieces and nephews. Opal was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Edna Johnston; her husband, Lloyd Jones; two brothers, Raymond and Dwight Johnston; and one sister, Geneva Reynolds. Visitation for Opal will be held from 9:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M., on Friday, August 7, 2015 at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel, with Opal’s family present. Funeral services for Opal will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, August 7, 2015 at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Lois Williams officiating. Burial will follow services at Highland Cemetery of Eddyville. A memorial has been established to the Lloyd T. & Opal I. Jones scholarship for the Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont School.
