Obituary for Sheryl Morgan

Sheryl K. Morgan, age 74, of Oskaloosa and formerly of Eddyville, Iowa, passed away Friday morning, February 13, 2015, at the Serenity House of Oskaloosa, Iowa. Sheryl was born on August 8, 1940, in Givin, Iowa. She was the daughter of Richard and Erma (Chambers) Baker. Sheryl attended Givin School and graduated from Oskaloosa High School, class of 1958. After high school Sheryl moved to California and graduated from secretary school. In 1962 Sheryl and William L. Sarver were united in marriage. They were blessed with one daughter Allison. They later divorced. On August 16, 1972 Sheryl and Jack Lee Morgan were married. They have shared over 42 years of marriage before Sheryl’s passing. Sheryl worked with Clow Valve Company for over 30 years in the credit department and for seven years with Forest Cemetery as the secretary and office manager. After her retirement she and Jack owned and operated the Welcome Inn in Eddyville. Sheryl was a devoted Hawkeye fan, especially football and men’s basketball. She enjoyed sprint car races, where she made many good friends, and she loved all animals that found her home. Sheryl is survived by her husband Jack Morgan of Oskaloosa; their children, Allison Sarver of Oskaloosa, Bryon (Christina) Morgan of Lacona, Cheryl (Gene) Spencer of Oskaloosa, and Matt Morgan of Harvey; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Sheryl is also survived by her two brothers, Ron (Dixie) Baker of Ridge Manor, Florida, and Rick Baker of Oskaloosa; and one step sister Halene Fleener of Oskaloosa. She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Erma; step father, Howard “Dutch” Sparks; one daughter, Diana Genskow; and one sister, Sharon Simmers. Visitation for Sheryl will be held on Monday, February 16, 2015 at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel. Sheryl’s family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Monday evening. Funeral services for Sheryl will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Jeff Belger officiating. Sheryl’s wishes were to be cremated following church services and a private family burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery of Eddyville at a later date.
