Obituary for Wanda Edwards

Wanda Lucille Lobberecht Edwards, 90, of Oskaloosa, Iowa, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 3, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. Wanda was born on November 14, 1928, in Seymour, Iowa. She was the daughter of Milo and Zelma (Hall) Hook. Wanda enjoyed a teaching career from 1946 until her retirement in 1990. Her impact as an educator has been felt well past her days in the classroom. Wanda was married to the love of her life, Max Lobberecht, on June 7, 1952, in Albia, Iowa. They lived in the Eddyville and Oskaloosa areas. They were blessed with three children; Larry, Linda, and Lynette. Wanda and Max were married for 39 years until he passed from cancer in 1991. Wanda had a passion for travel and learning which included visiting all fifty United States and multiple countries. Wanda was a very active philanthropist devoting time to religious, charitable, and educational purposes. Wanda was a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Philanthropic Educational Organization, and The Order of the Eastern Star. Wanda was united in marriage to Tom Edwards in 1995 until his passing in 2007. Wanda was a caring grandmother and great grandmother, who provided a strong and deeply rooted love for them. Wanda is survived by one brother, Wayne (Peg) Hook; one son, Larry (LouAnn) Lobberecht; two daughters, Linda (James) Kerr and Lynette (Marlin) Vande Wall. Wanda had seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren, Jason (Angie) Lobberecht, their children Collin and Megan; Marissa (Kevin) Halstead, their children Henry and Avery; MacKenzy (Amey) Kerr, their children Cason, Baylor, Abel, and Colton; Elizabeth (Keith) Vande Wall. Maranda (Andy) Hinnah, their children Everett and Atticus; Matthew Kerr; Ethan (Meghan) Vande Wall, and their child Hailey. Wanda is preceded in death by her parents, Milo and Zelma; her husband, Max Lobberecht; one brother, Wendell; and husband, Tom Edwards. Visitation for Wanda will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2019, at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel, beginning at 1:00 P.M. Wanda’s family will be present to greet friends and relatives from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.Funeral services for Wanda will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Eddyville, on Wednesday, August 7, 2019, at 10:30 A.M. Burial services will directly follow at the Highland Cemetery of Eddyville. A luncheon will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Eddyville, following burial services. A memorial has been established in Wanda’s name to the First United Methodist Church in Eddyville or to the Eddyville Fire Department.
