Obituary for Ronnie Mathews
Ronnie “Ron” Calvin Mathews, age 61, of Ottumwa, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Ridgewood Specialty Care in Ottumwa. He was born on March 14, 1959 to Joseph and Bertha (Plum) Mathews.
Ron worked at Pella Windows. He enjoyed working on puzzles. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding his motorcycles. He would even take his dog Sugar for a ride on his bikes.
Survivors include his son, Jeremy Mathews of Oskaloosa; companion of 22 years, Cheryl Terrell of Ottumwa; grandchildren, Haylie & Laycie Mathews; brother, Bill Mathews of Flat Rock, NC; Cheryl’s children, Lorelei Terrell of Edmond, OK, Kimberly Terrell of Ottumwa; friends, Eddy and Tammy Brown of Ottumwa, and he is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Bertha Plum; sisters, Sandy Fox, Sally Brown; brothers, John Mathews and Art Mathews.
Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 7, 2021 in Highland Cemetery in Eddyville with Pastor Nick Hughes officiating. Visitation will be held at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel on Thursday, January 7, 2021 from 1:00 -1:45 p.m., Thursday afternoon. Memorials may be directed to the Heartland Humane Society in Ottumwa.
