Obituary for Judith Reck Purdin

Judith D. Reck Purdin, age 81, daughter of Rev. John Reck and Rev. Eva Short Reck, passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at her residence near Marengo, Iowa.
Judith married Jerry Purdin on October 23, 1955. She worked for Owens Toothbrush, later was the first woman hired at Cargil, and worked at Moore’s Business Form until she retired in 2001. She enjoyed flower gardening, crocheting, embroidery, and camping with her family.
Judith is survived by husband, Jerry Sr. L. Purdin; her children, Delores L. Purdin-Frimml of Bell Plaine, Jerrilee D “Jeri” VonAshen of Belle Plain, John E. (Rita R.) Purdin of Williamsburg, Jerry Jr. L. (Gwen) Purdin of Jasper, MN; son-in-law, Ron E. Berstler of Williamsburg; siblings, Shirley (Bob) Shaw of Des Moines, Ed (Pat) Reck of Ottumwa, Don (Carolynn) Reck of Blakesburg, Kathy (Alex) Macy of Monroe, Karen (Bob) Robinson of Osceola; 13 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Revs. John and Eva Reck; daughter, Julia E. Purdin Berstler; granddaughter, Makeda Scott, and brother, Gerald Reck.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at the Eddyville United Methodist Church with Rev. Olivia Fabros officiating. Interment will follow services in Cedar Township Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 15, 2021, opening to the public at 4:00 p.m., with family being present from 6-8 p.m., Monday evening at Eddyville Funeral Chapel.
